Qingdao City In 2003, Qingdao achieved a historical breakthrough: export volume exceeded US$ 10 billion (US$10.032 billion). The figure accounts for 40% of that of the whole province, and ranked No.5 in the 15 vice-provincial cities. Qingdao technology and economy developing zone Qingdao technology and economy developing zone (short as Qingdao developing zone bellow), which was approved to establish by the State Council in Oct, 1984 and started the project in Mar, 1985, is one of the 14 state-level coastal developing zones with an originaly organized areas of 15 square kilometers. In 1992, the Shandong province and Qingdao city decided to combine the systems of the zone with Huangdao district, then in the same year, approved by the State Council, there established a bonded area and a new technological industrial developing experiment zone in Qingdao developing zone. Then in 1995, approved by People’ s Government of Shandong province, there then established the Xuejiadao tourism resort with an organized areas of 27 square kilometers.
